Mensaje Should I use the camera's white balance settings or color correction filters?

A: Using the camera's built-in white balance settings is almost always preferable over color correction filters in front of the lens, for two reasons. First, a color correction filter will take away light from all three colors, so all three will have to be amplified, which leads to more overall noise. Using the camera's white balance setting instead will only amplify those color channels needed to achieve a neutral color balance. Second, all filters currently in the market have been designed for the spectral response of film. Since sensors have a different spectral response than film, you may get unexpected results.
